Our Hands in Service: Community Outreach at St Mark

A place like St Mark works because many people give countless hours of time and invest their varied talents in the life of our parish. All of the ministries at St Mark happen because people feel passionate about finding creative ways to be God’s people in the world. From quilters and sewers to sitting up all night at a homeless shelter, ministry at St Mark is exciting because our people are excited about the opportunity to be God’s servants in the world.

If you would like to be part of our ministry, we would love to hear from you! If you have a great idea for how we can be in service to the world in some new way, we’d really love to hear it. All of our ministries began because God blessed someone with a great idea!

In Our Local Community

We strive to minister to individuals and organizations who serve those less fortunate right here on the Peninsula, focusing on education, health, and nourishment.

  • PORT Ministry: Providing emergency winter shelter and meals for our unhoused neighbors in partnership with LINK of Hampton Roads.
  • Food & Toiletry Drives: Supporting the Church Women United Food Closet and collecting pop-tops for the Ronald McDonald House.
  • Community Support: Providing meals for church families in need, volunteering with Thrive Peninsula, and making pillows for Mended Hearts.

Around the World

Our commitment to service extends globally, providing care and support to those in difficult circumstances across the world.

  • Ecuadorian Children’s Ministry: Sponsoring over 100 children at the Refugio in Quito, providing school supplies, meals, and medical care.
  • China Outreach: Funding life-altering cleft palate surgeries and supporting orphan care facilities through Love Without Boundaries.
  • Support for Our Troops: Sending “Care Packages” to military members deployed to hostile areas, especially during the Christmas season.

Stitching, Quilting & Knitting

Our talented crafting groups meet weekly for fellowship while making prayer shawls, Quilts of Honor, and items for infants, veterans, and chemo patients. All are welcome—we’ll even teach you!

Stewards of Our Gifts: Empowering Future Ministry

St Mark Empowerment Fund (SMEF)

The SMEF provides scholarships and grants to support students, seminarians, and community projects. It is a powerful way we invest in the future leaders of the church and our community.

Our Facilities & Technology

It takes constant effort to keep our beautiful and large facility in working order. Our dedicated Facilities and Tech Teams work behind the scenes to maintain our building, manage repairs, and ensure our technology supports our mission. We are always looking for new volunteers to help in this worthy cause!
